Sylvia's blocks
Here are Syvlia's blocks - like many of us this month, she's got one to swap around (the brown one) before sending them on, but plenty of time to do that before the end of the month...

My sorry little house
This is the sorry little house that Pat built. I may make one or two more before the end of the month. This was rather a challenge and not so much in a good way ;o)

Block Size Poll Results
Before I replace the block size poll with something new, I wanted to record our results:
40 people voted in the poll asking what size blocks for 2009 and the results were:
Six (6) inch - 12 votes (30%)
Mixed sizes - 9 votes (22%)
Eight 8) inch - 7 votes (17%)
Twelve (12) inch - 6 votes (15%)
Nine (9) inch - 4 votes (10%)
Ten (10) inch - 2 votes (5%)
In addition to another poll about fabrics, I also started a Brainstorming discussion on the forum--if you have a great block idea or theme idea or just a wild new idea for the block lotto for next year, please come join us:

Pat K's Oct. Blackird Blocks
Here is my Delta Squadron ready to fly the coop! I really enjoyed making these birds. The block is simpler to construct than it looks. I love the black on sky blue (my favorite color) ;o)

New Bird Joining the Flock
At first I wasn't sure I would like this block, but after making a couple I can see where it will be one I will use again. I may make some more, but for now I will toss these two into the hat for the drawing.

Darting Birds Virtual Quilt
Janet created this month's virtual quilt, using her quilt design for this block and block photos from sneek peekers Béatrice, Judy (possumtownquilter) and Michelle (momof10).
For directions for the quilt, see Janet's article on the Quilting site on About.com, Darting Birds Quilt.

Michelle (Momof11)'s Blocks for October
here they are...Only 4 this month. I have too many irons in the fire right now and no time to look for more blue fabric....who knows, maybe later in the month if I run across the fabric needed. This is one easy block! I think the Zebra bird is my favorite of these 4.

Béatrice (Beapatch) was the first sneek peeker to finish some blocks. These eight blocks got us off to a beautiful start.
