Blocks sent to Maree
Just to say that I have sent my blocks from Ireland and they are on their way to New Zealand! Spent our honeymoon on the North Island of NZ, seeing it in a campervan...was a great trip!! Can't believe it was 16 years agon now!

What was she thinking?
If you looked at the color guidelines and wondered what I was thinking when I made this choice ... I'll tell you the answer. But first, here are my 9 blocks.
I'm donating my chances, as usual ;-)
I thought the use of white (as opposed to any "light") would keep the quilt fresh and light and the conscious addition of gray would create a more contemporary scrappy look. The gold (or yellow) is the unifying color to make all our blocks related.
It may not be a combination for a kids quilt, but I am liking the blocks we've seen so far.
Now that I have (finally) made my blocks, here are a couple of sewing notes that might help if you are having problems or are a little intimidated by making a block with quite a few pieces.

- Take your time. It's worth it NOT to rush through this one. Do take the time to actually draw those lines across the white squares. Stop and press the seams after each pair of seams or pair of triangle.
- If you are having problems making the block the correct size, you can incrementally measure the block as you are making it. The center square is 3.5 inches. After you add the first round of strips, it should measure 6.5 inches. If it's too large at this point, you can square up and trim before continuing. If it's too small, it will continue to be too small.
- As always, scrappy blocks are a great opportunity to play with color combinations and layer your own rules onto the block guidelines. My mantra when cutting strips for this block was "light, bright, dark, dull" and most of my blocks contain a combination of fabrics that I would describe with those words. In most of mine, I put the 2 golds adjacent to one another in the non-triangle corners (and the same thing with the grays).

How Many Blocks Can I Win?
I meant to include the target set size for this month in the guidelines post–and will go back to add it.
The target set size for this month is 36 blocks for each winner. This is the number of blocks in the large quilt at the top of Bonnie's directions.
Of course the exact number will depend on the total number of blocks made. Each winner will receive AT LEAST 20 blocks. This is the number of blocks in the second quilt photo on that web page. In both of Bonnie's Pineapple Blossom quilts, the blocks are put together with sashings and multiple borders. If you are a winner and prefer a straight set and want to make a large bed quilt, you may need to make a few more blocks to complete your quilt.

Clovers to Maree, Wilma & Susan
Ladies - I've dropped your blocks into the post today. Maree should see hers soon (nice that it doesn't have to cross the ocean) and hopefully I won't have to resend Wilma's this time ;-)

I really enjoyed piecing these blocks! I love all of Bonnie's patterns.
Here are my 6 entries.

I was able to pull almost all of the 2" strips I needed from my bin of 2" strips (Scrap User's System).

I love playing with the bonus triangles!
