My finished Pineapple Blossom

Hi Ladies
With some encouragement from our lovely leader, Sophie, I am posting a picture of my completed Pineapple Blossom.
Several months ago when this was the block of the month, I went wild over the scrappiness of it.
I did the blocks on the machine and then did hand quilting doing it in my own QAYG style.

Pineapple Blossom Finish A Quilt for ME!

Okay! The big reveal! You are seeing the finished product first as you contributed the blocks. Be kind! This was my first time quilting a large quilt FMQ on my regular sewing machine.  And again, thank you, thank you, to everyone for your blocks.

Picture one, Finished!, Picture two, the back with part of the front pulled up for contrast, Picture three, close up of one block quilted. Picture four, after washing and drying, in all it's quilty goodness.

Tomorrow, or later today, I will share the things that I learned. I've decided to keep a log on my FMQ experiences for personal reference.

PB blocks received

I have been away on vacation but had some blocks waiting for me when I got home from Louise and from Julie Wy.  Thanks so much!  I love them and can't wait to get started on my quilt.

I DO BELIEVE! I DO BELIEVE!

It is getting close to the end of the of the month and I (like believing in Santa!) do believe that the last of the Pineapple Blossom blocks will make their way into my mailbox. We know they were made. We saw them posted. Maybe my mail person was jealous of all the squishies I was getting and kept some back? Anyway. I do believe that the three blocks from my fellow Oregonian and and the three from lovely North Carolina will make it here before the end of the month.

Pineapple Rose

Used the May 2011 Pineapple Blossom pattern to put this bed shawl together.  When quilted it will go at foot of my mom's bed to warm her feet.  It can also be pulled around her shoulders for warmth when she is sitting up in bed reading.  I've named it Pineapple Rose after the May 2011 Pineapple Blossom pattern and the embrodiered rose in the middle of each block and in the cornerstones.  (Rose is from an Anita Goodesign embrodiery pattern.)  Hope everyone else is having as much fun putting these monthly blocks into finished works as I am!!!  Blessings!  LPB

At Long Last ...

The email with the mailing information for your Pineapple Blossom blocks has been sent.

The rare months when things don't go so smoothly really make me appreciate all the other months ... when they do. 

I'm sorry if I didn't respond to everyone's email asking for the mailing info ... if you made blocks in May, you should have the information you need to mail your blocks now.  Let me know ASAP if you didn't receive the email from me and I will resend it.  It's always a good idea to check your spam folder first ;-)

Shelley is our Alternate Winner for May

I haven't been able to reach Julie Wy by email or by posting on her blog.  The rule (new since April) is that winners must get in touch with me within 24 hours of the posted results of the random "drawing." 

I truly hope Julie is OK and I hate to enforce the rule,  but after giving Julie an additional 24 hours I have chosen an alternate winner.

Congratulations Shelley!  Because Shelley's name was drawn last, Andra is bumped up and will receive a set of 36 blocks and Shelley will receive a set of 20--enough to make a 57.5 x 68 inch throw like the one on Bonnie Hunt's pineapple blossom page.

I am always saying that the Block Lotto continues to be a success because of all of you--doing your best to make blocks and mailing them to virtual strangers month after month.  Some of you have been so eager to get your Pineapple Blossom's in the mail that you have been emailing me about getting the info.  I hope I will hear from Shelley soon (verifying her address and letting me know how many of her blocks she wants to keep) ... as soon as I have, I can send out the mailing info to everyone.

Please let today's drawing for an alternate winner be a reminder to everyone with a vested interest in the outcome to LET ME KNOW if you aren't going to be able to check the blog and/or email on the last day/first day of the month ... so, in case you win we can be prepared and keep the wheels of the Block Lotto bus turning.

I'm waiting to hear from Julie Wy in the UK.  I've sent email and posted a message on her blog letting her know that she won and asking her to get in touch. If anyone knows Julie and/or knows a way to reach her, could you please reach out and touch and ask her to check her email and reply to me?

I like to wrap things up quickly and I don't like making everyone else wait.  It's why when we shook up the rules a few months ago,  I said I expected people to let me know if they weren't going to be available when the winners were announced and said we'd choose a new winner if someone didn't respond in 24 hours ... it's not a rule I ever wanted to enforce, but ...

May2011 - Pineapple Blossom

Here are my two blocks for this month. The instruction said that it didn't matter which corner you put the triangles; I found out that if I did not copy the instructionphoto the block turned rectangular. I had to use a smaller seam-allowance.

It IS Still May, Right?

Whew, a couple evenings, and here are 2 Pineapple Blossoms that bloomed in my sewing space.
Yippee! Last month, I only completed 1 Clover, but it's neat to get something turned in each month. So, here's mine for May, unless I can get a couple more done.

My first try: May pineapple blossom blocks!

Hi there, fellow stitchers!  Here are my contribution for the month, four blocks I nervously assembled.  Then I looked at your pictures, and decided that mine will fit in just fine!  I have been sewing forever, and quilting seriously for about 8 years.  I live in a quiet, rural area, and am hoping to find some other stitching friends out there in cyberspace.  Enjoy the holiday weekend everyone, and hope to "bump" into next month.  Happy stitching!
