April Clover Winner

I, too, would like to congratulate all the April winners. I am delighted but more than a little surprised that I was a winner this month since I'm a newer member and this is my second win. I usually don't win anything, so I'm amazed by this lucky streak. I thank you all in advance for the lovely blocks I'm sure to receive.

Happy Quilting!
- Wendy F

April Winners

I would like to congratulate all of our winners for April. I have been fortunate enough to win the blocks several times since I have joined, and that is unusual for me. I consider all of you my lucky quilt angels, and I do hope that the good fortune you all generate extends to your lives and your families lives. Bless you all, and thank you.
Good luck to all who take part in the May block lotto.
Thank you Sophie for your continued work to keep block lotto running smoothly.

Coralie from Canada

There were a lot of donated chances which I spread among the 4 newbies and 19 quilters who have not yet won a set of lotto blocks.

Rho's last minute pair of blocks, pushed us over the number needed for EIGHT WINNERS.  Thanks,  Rho!

6 Clover Blocks

In just under the wire. For some reason (life probably) I thought these were never going to get done. They aren't difficult. I think I was just distracted or something. I ended up with twice as many "petals" as I needed and half as many leaves (and no more of the cream fabric) and when I thought I was done this afternoon two of them had leaves upside down. Argh! Anyway, here are my six. Good luck to everyone in this months drawing.

All of my Red/Whites have arrived

Thanks to Kelly for the last of my red and whites to arrive. (Thanks for the few extra that you slipped in.) I now have the full complement of D4Ps to work with. I'm amazed at the lack of duplication of the red fabric. We all buy red fabric, but no two of you used the SAME red fabric. Thanks to everyone for participating in March to make it such a popular month with lots of winners. Good luck in the clover drawing tomorrow. Kathie L in Allentown

It is nice to be back with Block Lotto!

Three Modern Clover by June

If I were lucky enough to win the blocks I would use the on point setting idea from Lyn Brown.

Once I found my 3.5 square ruler and my 6.5 inch rectangle ruler, these blocks were easy to get together.

Thanks again for the clear directions, Sophie!

You MAY have Sneak Peek eMail

If you have made and posted modern clover blocks this month, you should have email from me.

Last month, it took a few hours for a few people to receive the sneak peek email, so if it isn't there yet, please be patient and:
  1. Double check that your name (and your blocks) are on the list in the left side bar--if there is an error there, let me know ASAP.  This is always good practice, even if you DID receive the email.
  2. ALWAYS check your SPAM folder (if you have one) because sending messages to a large distribution–44 of you will be receiving the sneak peek email–sometimes brands the sender as a spammer.
  3. Let me know via email and I will resend it.  The second (or third) attempt almost always manages to get through ;-)
I apologize for not posting fabrics for May earlier (and not yet making some May blocks myself).  FYI, we'll be making controlled scrappy blocks in May using these colors:

WHITE -Your white fabric may be solid, a white on white (WOW) print  or a multi-print fabric that is predominately white and will read as white in the block.

GOLD - Your gold (or yellow) fabric may be solid, a tone-on-tone (TOT) print or a multicolor print that is predominately gold (or yellow) and reads as gold in the block.

GRAY - Your gray fabric may be solid, a tone-on-tone (TOT) print or a multicolor print that is predominately gray and reads as gray in the block.

You'll be adding additional fabrics of your choice to the blocks.  If you make multiple blocks, you may use the same WHITE, GOLD and GRAY fabrics . . .  as usual, I'll be asking you to mix things up so your blocks don't look TOO closely related.

D4P Design Wall

I received the last of the D4P blocks during the week and have finally been able to take a photo of the design wall.

There is a lovely 'light & dark' pattern emerging and I think I will have a play with the layout before sewing up.

d4p blocks - all arrived

This arrived the other day from, Laurina.  I was so impressed with the way they were presented, I just had to take a photo ;-)

Thanks to Balinda, Julie, June, Laurina, Pokey & Sophie for other blocks received during this last week.  By my calculations, that's everyone's block received.

There is not one duplicated RED - given the vast range of people and places these blocks came from, I think that is amazing ;-)

I am hoping for some nice weather this weekend so that I can get a good photo of the design wall - it looks absolutely wonderful!

All here...

And the last set of blocks, from Debbie in Israel, landed in my hallway today (told you that would happen, Debbie!) - now it's just a matter of working out what to do with them all (besides admire them, that is)...

Modern Clover

Here are the Modern Clover blocks that I made. Good luck to everyone in the draw. Some pretty clovers this month.

Bless you all and have a safe Easter weekend.

3 more for me!

Here are my total clover contributions for this month. Three have already been listed so it is only 3 more chances in this post!
I'm out of beige/cream stash. I have a great excuse to stock up again:)
Thanks for such a great block this month. I am completely enamoured with it. If only I win:)

Half a Dozen Clovers in Hong Kong

Here are my "April Flowers," which is kind of appropriate for here. The rains don't typically come til May.... and then it will be too late for the buds. There are three color ways, rose, turquoise, and coral. I am still waiting for my Stateside fabric order. Maybe for the May block.

they're all here!!

I got Laurina's blocks from New Zealand yesterday!! She also included a cute handmade card with a string heart on the front. It was such a nice way to end my winnings. Thanks to everyone. I can't wait to put it all together!

Almost there...

Two more sets of blocks arrived yesterday - from Terri and from Julie D, which means I'm only waiting on Debbie's blocks from Israel and then I will have all mine. Once I have them, I will have to do something with them, so I'm in no rush!

It's amazing the variety of reds I have received - I won't say there are no duplicates, at least not until I get them out to look at together (one I got from Terri, I know I have that red in my personal stash, though can't remember if I made a block with it), but I know if there are duplicates, they are the exception rather than the rule. It's great fun watching them all come in.

2 more!!

Here are the missing twins from my previous blocks.

Itty-bitty red and white d4p...

I made this little (8.5" x 10.5") quilt for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI) project using a lot of the same fabrics I used for the blocklotto blocks last month. These blocks are 2" finished.

Laura

D4P Red & White TA- DA

Here are the blocks I've recieved all different in no particular order on my hardwood floor because they couldn't go up on my busy design wall. I love all the blocks! THANKS!!! You can read more about my Design Wall Monday HERE. I dont' have any ideas for the borders. I think I'll put them away until Judy L chooses RED for the Monochromatic challenge. That will give me a head start for that month.

My April blocks (10 + 1 extra)...

Laura Randolph

Tardy Posting.... Sorry, Sophie.

I sent my four D4P blocks to Balinda last week, so she may have got them by now, if not... soon. Nan

Clovers by Gail in Vegas

5 for me this month! Only the purple/lavendar block has 2 the same because this block is really great so it was 1 for the block lotto, 1 for Gail; 1 for the block lotto, 1 for Gail.
There are some roses blooming (it's the month for flowers!) in the condo complex where I live and while I don't feel free to cut any and bring them into my home, I do feel free to take as many photos as possible and here are a few for everyone to enjoy.

Gail in Vegas

Anonymous blocks are not a good idea

Hi Mary in Washington. I am the one who sent the blocks from NYC. Usually I put a return address on the squishie and the envelope, but I've been a mess this month. They were mailed on April 7th, in case anyone (Sophie) is keeping track.

Everyone's blocks for this month have been just beautiful. Hoping to make modern clovers before the month is up, but am trying to make a small quilt for a retiring colleague, so that's taking up the little bit of free time!

Clover Blocks

Two Blocks to donate. As much as I love, love, love this one, I have vowed to donate every month until my winning blocks from last year are quilted!

3 more D4 to go

Sorry I haven't been posting as these wonderful blocks have arrived. I have been out of pocket. But I have received 45 of my 48 blocks. Thanks to June, Maree, Kathy B., Sophie, Belinda, Liz, Carrie, Becca, Mary Mc., Cyndi, Irene, and Michelle!! Once Laurina's blocks arrive from New Zealand I will have them all. It has really been fun to look forward to checking the mail everyday. I think I will be disappointed when those last 3 blocks get here and I don't have anymore to look forward to! I will post a pic when I have them all laid out. Thanks again everybody!

Clover blocks

I made up some Clover blocks

8 blocks

Sophie, since I have been such a very, very lucky winner lately, I would like to donate these blocks.

CathyC

Almost all the blocks here...

Got some more blocks today, these from Sophie herself - only about 3 more sets to go, I think - and then I have to work out what to do with them, lol. Thanks for the blocks, Sophie - and of course thanks for organising us all!

They are all here! D4P

Hi Ladies
I received some more D4P's in the mail today - unfortunately my batteries are dead in my digital and are not receiving a charge. Reckon it is time to break down and purchase some new batteries!

I received more gorgeous blocks in the post today. What a nice welcome home from work!
Thanks go out to:
Shelley in ME
Wendy in Amarillo
& Kim in Hong Kong

Sophie and creators of these received blocks ~ I have so enjoyed being the recipient of GOOD MAIL for a brief change of pace. Each block is precious and more lovely than my pictures can represent.

I promise I will put the blocks together soon! And of course, I will have new batteries ready to snap their beauty for you to see.

Once again, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More D4P blocks

My stack of red and white D4P's is getting higher. 46 blocks now. Thanks to Brenda and Sophie for my latest additions. I can hardly wait to put them on my Design Wall. Only two more coming I think??? I'm so glad I got to join you all for this LOTTO! Winning the first month is a bonus.

All my blocks are here

The last of my d4p blocks have arrived.  They came all the way from Maine and Hong Kong.  Thank you to Shelley and Kim.  They're beautiful.  Thank you to all you for the lovely blocks.  I look forward to putting this together.
Janet S

If at first you don't succeed....

My dad always says that God loves tryers....and I am trying but these blocks don't bear close scrutiny..so I'll use them for something wonky and I'll get back to the old ironing board! I love the concept of the block and I've even made a little pin cushion out of my bonus block but as per usual it takes a little while to perfect the block knowing that someone else will use it.

Blocks from Arizona

More red and white d4p blocks arrived today.  These were from Andi.  I really love the batik reds.  All the blocks are looking so great.  This is going to be a wonderful quilt.

I was wondering, about half of my blocks have arrived wrapped in plastic wrap before they were put in the envelopes.  Is this a best practice?  Is it just to keep them clean, or what?  Should I do this on the next ones I send out?  Just wondering.

Thanks again, Andi.
Janet S.

April Blocks

(Also mailed my extras to Clare in France for her charity project.  If anyone has a bunch of red and white pre-washed scraps to send to me I will make extra blocks for her project.)

More D4P received

Hello All ~
I received two squishes today - one from
Coralie in Canada & one from Julie in Calif.

Thank you Ladies. This has been kinda sorta like the 12 days of Christmas, running to get the mail each day. Each block is a treasure.

Three Clover

Three completed so far. I'm using up every scrap of cream I can find to make these blocks! And some old calicoe-looking colours too. I really love all the different settings people have been posting. I love the technique for making the stems. I love this month's block!:)

Testing the HK postal service

I mailed two packages of squares on Thursday to the States. Hope ya'll enjoy. Also, I couldn't stand not having a "stash" to work from (Limited shipping weight when we moved here last summer) so I ordered four different charm packs from Fabric Square Shop on Amazon yesterday. Hopefully I will have them in time to make some clovers!

D4P Project

Just finished a little Christmas table topper for mom using the March block.
Combined the D4P block with a regular 4-patch.
Added a little embrodiery to reinforce the peppermint pattern on the back.
Made the self-binding a little wider than I usually would for a table topper,
to show a little of the peppermint motif on the front.
Blessings!  LPB

D4P Mailed to UK

LPB mailed a couple of D4P's to the UK last Wednesday (to Celine).
Blessings!

April Blocks Corrected

Hope I got it right this time.
Here are two blocks for the lotto.
I had to reverse the light/dark orientation.
My left-handed personality got it backwards the first time!!!

One block

I don't know if I'm going to get more than the one I made for the sneak peek, so here it is, and count me as one, please.

D4P blocks on the way

I've put the blocks for Andrew, Cathy, and Kate into the mailbox today. Hopefully there will be no delays as they find there way to the other side of the world from New Zealand (okay, so Cathy is only in Australia but Kate is about as far away as you can get from here). -Laurina

Stack blocks replaced

Since the blocks Cathi originally sent never showed up at my house, she kindly agreed to make some more and try again. This time the post office got them here, so yeah! All my blocks are here. And just in time. I ordered a Tin Lizzie 18" on a frame today and should have it in about 2 weeks. I'll need some tops to practice on and the stack blocks should make one or two!

Four for me!

Here are my first 4 clovers! Sorry about the darkish photo- I was so busy enjoying our nice weather the sun had gone down before I took the picture. I adore these blocks!
