Blocks arrived in tornado torn Oklahome today

Today I received blocks from Lois (UK) and Linda (Dallas, TX). SO nice to get cheery blocks with the dreary weather we have been having here. It's been raining pretty much since Monday, when the tornadoes came through. We came through unscathed...the nearest tornado touched down 3 -4 miles from us...actually 2 tornadoes...and wiped out the grocery store where my 21 yr. old daughter was going to work this summer. Now if we need something from the grocery store it will mean a 20+ mile drive each way. Hopefully they will rebuild quickly! Today I went to Barnes and Noble to spend the gift cards my kids gave me for Mother's Day and bought Liberated Quiltmaking 2, by Gwen Marston. Maybe it will provide inspiration for using the blocks I won! I had previously decided I didn't need the book enough to justify the cost, but since I can't buy groceries or pay bills with a Barnes and Noble Card I splurged. I think that's what the kids had in mind when they chose that gift!

  1. I was so afraid for you when I kept seeing news coverage of the damage in your town. I know you'll miss the grocery store until they rebuild, but I'm so glad that you and your family are OK. 3-4 miles seems way too close to me.

Your mother's day gift card makes me think that your kids know you all too well ;-)

    Thanks for the update.

  3. I bought the book too, I love it and
it has such ideas that I would have never
    thought of doing.

  4. Glad you are okay - too bad you'll have to drive farther for food. For a while I did freezer cooking twice a month - still had to get fresh stuff for salads but still might be something to try. As long as you have electricity. Great that you got the book! I'm thinking about getting it too...
