I am so happy that this is complete..... now I can push on to
the next UFO! Though the colors look royal (sashing and borders),
it is really, purple. I used a double seminole border. After adding
everyone's blocks, and making the sashing 1 -1/2", the width was
still not as wide as desired, so I continued until the width was 80"
and the length was 95". I am happy with the results. I don't know,
I just like to make larger quilts, most of the time.
Many, many thanks to all of you who contributed to the blocks
in my quilt for Feb's block lotto. They are really, really appreciated! And
thanks to you Sophie for hosting!
Happy Quilting Everybody!
That's really nice, rho!
ReplyDeleteI love the pieced borders. Purple is so hard to photograph and get true colors, but I'll bet the color is great is person and that your daughter loves it!
ReplyDeleteI love the borders that you added. It must have been a real mathematical challenge to get the corners to meet so well. I'm impressed, and all in less that a month!
ReplyDeleteI had to add one more thing . . . your quilt really is proof positive that small lotto blocks really can make a great big quilt !!! Brava, Rho.
ReplyDeletethis is beautiful
ReplyDeleteTerri is right - this is just beautiful! No other word is better. Great job on the borders!
ReplyDeleteIt's Dec 31st 2009 and only now, am I seeing/reading these comments. I guess I should pay more attention to the "comments" line in the post! At any rate, thanks you all for all your kind words. I absoulutely love "piece borders" and really love doing the seminole border. It's a little tedious, but the beauty it affords the quilt, far outweights my labor! I'd been watching Eleanor Burns on www.quilterstv.com during this time and I got some GREAT tips on putting the border together faster from her videos on that site.
ReplyDeleteThanks again and Happy Quilting in the coming year 2010!
