My three blocks for February...

2 words

Here are my two words for the month. I'm not real crazy with how they turned out; everyone elses look so much better. I tried for scrappy with 'babe' .... soso. I should have read the tutes you provided for letters or used paper piecing maybe....oh well...hope whoever gets them will like them ok. Can't wait to see what is in store for March.....I need to not be so late with my block making so I can get the sneak peek.

Two Words from June

Took me a while to find my 6.5 inch ruler - but found it now and I could cut the word blocks to submit for my February blocks. In Pumpkin - I really like the way the 'm' and 'n' look - almost like italic printing! Not so sure of the other ones... This was my first time to make letters. In Babycakes - it was a challenge to get the 'y' so it would fit.

Thank you Sophie for the challenge!

Flowers were from my husband for Valentine's Day...

This was really fun to work on - hard but fun. I could tell that I was getting more comfortable with working with the fabric with each letter.

While I was working I was thinking about how you-all were also in your sewing area struggling or breezing thru the challenge - is really nice to be part of this group.

February Word Blocks!

Here are my entries for February. I won't be making any more words, I have too many other things going on right now. 'Schnuckiputzi' is german for 'Cutie Pie'. March's blocks look fun!

February block

Here's my term of endearment for February - a word I use for partner and kids alike. :)

I managed to overcome my irrational hatred of paper piecing for this one; hand-pieced as usual. I think I'll donate my chance this month, though - got enough on my plate, and I'm not sure I'd find it easy to use the blocks if I won.

Good luck to everyone else, and happy Valentine's Day!

Hunka-Hunka Burnin' Love

Here's my entry for "longest phrase"  It's 22 letters if you count punctuation, 20 if you don't.
Let me tell you, the apostrophe was a pain figure out.

2 blocks to enter

Here are my 2 entries for this month.  I am not sure that I am happy with them but I have already taken the top one apart a few gillion times.  I cheated on the second one and used paper piecing.  All the blocks that I have seen so far look great!  It will make a fabulous quilt for the winner!  Good luck everyone!  I am having sooooo much fun getting my tic tac toe blocks in the mail!  Thanks!

rho's term of endearment

This is my block for February. Please donate. "Pookie" is our "play" name for my granddaughter. (28" x 9.5" - hot pink and wow).
- - - - - - - - - - -- CORRECTION MADE - - - - - - - - "Pookie - - Revisited - - - - -
The pic shown on top (blue background) is now within the Guidelines for the Lotto this month! (25 x 6.5) Yeah! Luckily for me, I didn't have to take it all apart. I altered/shortened the "P", the "K" and the "I". - Quilt On!!

My Blocks for February

I have been in Houston babysitting my grandsons for the past week, so, while I had fabric and sewing machine and got some blocks made I didn't have a camera. But now I'm back in frozen Oklahoma, land of the ice coated trees. The first block I did is an example of what not to do....do not make 2 rows of words on a single 6" tall block! I may separate the words and join them into one long block, but the letters are a bit under 3" tall....we'll see!BTW, this term of endearment came straight from my state song, OKLAHOMA!

After that I did 3 more blocks, 3 different font styles. I had a lot of fun doing these. I can see using this technique to do a short nursery rhyme or poem for a baby quilt....
I don't know if I will get anymore blocks done this month. After being away a week I have a lot of catching up to do at home. Mail, bills, taxes....and when the snow melts we have to start working on a garden site.

Block from Krista

This is my block for February.  This was more fun to make than I expected.  But like Kristin I don't see myself making a quilt of words, so I will donate my chance from this block (and any others I end up making this month).  Besides, I'll have all those tic-tac-toe blocks to put together soon :)

Hunny Bunny

Here's another one for me.  I left plenty of fabric on the ends of the blocks so the winner will have options on how much border to use.

I think these are great fun to make!  I'd like to donate my chances this month, I can't see myself making a quilt of the words.

10 letters - I think that's the most so far.... :)
