Two Pineapple Blossom by June

Here are my two blocks for the month.

I used the same white for the center and the triangles, at least  two greys in the strips, and at least two gold/yellows in the strips.  Then I used assorted other fabric for the remaining four strips.

Blocks mailed

My blocks are on their way to Maree, Kate, and Laura. Congratulations and have fun!

rho's 2 blocks are in the mail for Wilma!

Make something pretty, you lucky quilter!

Pineapple Blossoms from LPB

I love this block!  Attached are pics of six for the lotto this month.  I've already done another 12 in a pink flower colorway for a baby quilt.  Always wanted to do "pineapple type" blocks but have never tried them before.  Thanks Sophie for putting this block on the lotto.

Mine are in the mail to Laura, Wilma and Susan. Congratulations!

Blocks in the mail

My blocks are in the mail to Laura, Coralie, and Kate.  Enjoy!

Mailing your Modern Clover Blocks

If you made modern clover blocks last month, you should have email from me with the mailing info.

Please take a second to make sure the number of blocks that I have for you is correct.

If you see any errors or you didn't receive the email from me, please let me know ASAP and I'll revise/re-send as needed.

Pineapple Blossom May Blocks

How fun are these? Couldn't wait to do them. Had planned on trying this block for a long time and now I have and love it!

Last month I donated my blocks and therefore gave up a chance of winning the Lotto. This month I'm entering and hoping to be "in it to win it!" Nine of these blocks are my contribution to this months Block Lotto. I am doing more for myself tho'! I love scrap blocks and this one even made my husband, who hardly ever comments on anything on the design wall, say "I like this block!" For him that is a total endorsement!

Enjoy!  Toni

What fun!

I did nine of these pineapples last week. (Thanks to a rainy spring break.) I have to admit I really stretched my comfort levels pairing the fabrics. I am usually far more of a control freak. Also tried a little batiking and dying on this round just to get the colors I needed. Not quite as successful as I would have liked, but I at least got what I was lacking.

1 Pineapple Blossom to donate

5 so far

Here are the 5 blocks I've made so far - I am hoping to have time to do 4 more before the end of the month as they are a good way of using scrap strips, but just in case, I thought I'd post them straight away. Although I like these blocks, I'm going to donate my chances this month, having won in the previous two - I doubt I'd win again, but it would be just my luck and then I'd have way too many blocks to make up into quilt tops!

One for the pot

Here's the one block I was able to complete before my machine started to make some not to pleasant sounds. I'm going to have to take it for repair. I hope I can add more later this month. I've made this block before, and I really like the look of the blocks put together. I'll donate this block. Kathie L in Allentown

Donating 2 blocks in May

Congratulations to the April winners! I know you'll have a lot of fun with those beautiful tulip blocks.
Here are my 2 blocks for May. I'd like to donate these this month.

May's Block is Pineapple Blossom

Ginny's Pineapple Blossom #1I finally saw the "blossom" in  Bonnie Hunter's Pineapple Blossom block–and think it is perfectly named, it's one of those blocks I always wanted to try and I hope you will, too.

The directions for making the block can be found on Bonnie's Quiltville website here:

Pineapple Blossom

We'll be making the 9 inch version of the block from 3 1/2-inch squares and 2-inch strips.

COLOR/FABRIC GUIDELINES

This months block will be a  controlled scrappy colorway, with a couple of color rules:

WHITE - use white for the 3.5 " squares used for the block. Your white fabric may be solid, a white on white (WOW) print  or a multi-print fabric that is predominately white and will read as white in the block.

GOLD - use gold for any two of the rectangles used in making the block.  Your gold (or yellow) fabric may be solid, a tone-on-tone (TOT) print or a multicolor print that is predominately gold (or yellow) and reads as gold in the block.

GRAY - use gray for any two of the rectangles used in making the block.  Your gray fabric may be solid, a tone-on-tone (TOT) print or a multicolor print that is predominately gray and reads as gray in the block.

The other 4 rectangles used in making the block may be any fabrics (at least 2) of your choice.

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF BLOCKS IS 9

If you make multiple blocks this month, you may use the same white, gold and gray fabrics.  Be sure to vary the placement of the gold and grays in the block and to mix it up with the additional fabrics you add--your blocks may look related, but shouldn't look like twins.

HOW MANY BLOCKS CAN I WIN

The target set size for this month is 36 blocks ... but each winner will win at least 20.  Not coincidentally, those are the numbers of blocks needed to make each of the two quilts at the top of Bonnie's directions page.

BONUS TRIANGLES

As part of making the block, you may choose to sew up the bonus triangles.  If you won't use them yourself, consider sending them along to the May winner(s), so that they might be used in a pieced border, like the one in Bonnie's quilt at the top of the directions web page.

BLOG POST LABELS

For your blog posts, please use as many of the following labels as apply:
Pineapple Blossom - for any post about this month's lotto
May 2011 photos - for any post with photos of this month's blocks
PB-mailed - when you mail your blocks to the winners at the end of the month
PB-received - if you are a winner and are posting about receiving blocks that have been mailed to you

THE VIRTUAL QUILT

Here are some of the blocks made by Cheri, Ginny, Julie P, Kate, Kim (HK), Laurina, Liz, LPB and Toni. Kathy also made blocks, but I wasn't able to crop them in a useful way ... sorry, Kathy. Thanks everyone for the inspiration.
