Violet Block
Our blocks will have:
* Black backgrounds (solid or BOB print)
* Yellow centers (solid or TOT print)
* Flower fabrics inspired by African Violets
The MAXIMUM number of blocks you can make for chances in the drawing is NINE. You may use the same black and yellow fabrics for all your blocks, but the "African Violet" Flower fabric must be UNIQUE for each block.
COLOR INSPIRATION
Ellie found this amazing photo of the many colors of African Violets. If you think you just don't have any African Violet flower fabrics . . . take another look–click for a larger image.

MORE INSPIRATION
If dark background quilts aren't your thing, here's Carolyn's Flower Garden Quilt. (Click the link to read more about the quilt and the liberated version of the block that Debbie made).
The wide, light-colored sashings turned the dark-background blocks into a light, airy, modern quilt.
Sophie, this block looks fun, and the instructions look pretty easy. However, I cannot get the instructions to print on my computer. I've tried copying a selection and printing that, but either I only get the photo and the text is blank, or only half a page. I tried both the link from the peek email and the link from the blog. I'm letting you know in case others have the same trouble.
ReplyDeleteLove this block. & thank you for posting the picture showing the range of possible bloom-colors.
ReplyDeleteI will look into the printing problem ... and will blog the directions later today/tonight. In the meantime, anyone can email me and I can send the word doc (Linda, you should have it in your mail now).
ReplyDeleteI cannot get to the directions at all. Seems you need to ask permission for access on Google Docs. Is this my issue or am I missing something? Your block is lovely and we want to use it for a guild event!
ReplyDeleteI just had to request permission too
ReplyDeleteThe block pattern has been updated and is now available on the Block Patterns page on www.blocklotto.com
