Sneak Peek blocks

I collect reds, so it was really easy to make up 9 of these blocks in next to no time!
I played around with the layout and came up with this. You see the big white blocks that are formed from the corners of 4 blocks? How neat would it be to applique something in there? If I win these blocks, I think I'm going to take strips of red and white and make my own striped fabric, then I'm going to cut out candy cane shapes and applique them onto the white blocks. A holiday quilt in no time!

    I like your applique idea, but then again, I had thought this block would make a great "setting" for redwork blocks :-)
