My Stacks

Hi, My name is Julie and this is my first time in the Block Lotto. I'm pretty new to quilting and was really excited to hear about the Block Lotto and couldn't wait to get started ... It's been quite a challenge! Firstly the precision required has been a test to my patience.. my first completed block only measured 10inches no matter how hard I ironed ...pulled...and stretched!! and 100% white cotton seems to be elusive in this neck of the woods, kind donations from family and friends all had a sneaky bit of polyester. Never mind, I bought some eventually, and managed my seams with greater accuaracy et voila! A great sense of accomplishment with my first ever coin stacks.

  1. Welcome to the Block Lotto, Julie!

Because you're the second Julie W. entering the lotto this month, I've added you as Julie Wy and changed Julie (Floribunda) to Julia Wa. When you post in the future, be sure to say *something* so I know which Julie you are. Besides the two Julie W's, we have two more "regulars."

I'm sorry you had to struggle with your blocks, BUT ... I hope you have a new understanding about that quilter's 1/4 inch. It often doesn't matter when you are making blocks for yourself, but if you should ever be in a block exchange/swap/bee, then you'll want to be sure to make blocks that are the same size as everyone else.

I've added your blocks to the list. Our new total-so-far this month is 217 Stacks which means at least 30 blocks for SEVEN Winners.

FYI, you're the 8th person to join the Block Lotto this month. I don't keep track, but I'm pretty sure that's a record for us.
